EXEMASIN-25

Steroidal aromatase inhibitor that suppresses estrogen production, primarily used in hormone-sensitive breast cancer.

Exemestane works by permanently binding to and inactivating the enzyme aromatase (a process called suicide inhibition). Aromatase converts androgens into estrogens in peripheral tissues. By blocking this conversion, exemestane reduces circulating estrogen levels, starving estrogen-dependent tumor cells of the hormones needed to grow.

Dosage & Administration

1. Standard Dosage: 25 mg taken orally once daily.
2. Timing: Take after a meal, as dietary fat significantly enhances drug absorption.
3. Duration: Typically prescribed for several years as determined by an oncologist (often completing a total of 5 years of adjuvant hormone therapy when combined with initial tamoxifen treatment).
